Articled vs Grammarly AI

This list only has one name that actually writes, and that’s Grammarly. Grammarly’s suggestions, rewrites, and Authorship all touch the work we do differently, so this page has more overlap than it does errors in category. Grammarly is the only company of the listed ones that can write.

Articled vs Grammarly AI: What Is the Difference?

Grammarly has added new features since its debut as a digital proofreader. It now acts as a corrections engine, helps write and rewrites text with its generator, and Authorship, which stores the history of how a text was drafted. While there is competition for the generator with services that help you write, Grammarly is the only one that offers writing services by rewriting text at your request.

Articled has packaged finished work for sale, and you get to skip the management overhead. Paying $10/100 words, you get an article from a writer where 100% of the writing price goes to them. Grammarly gave you the option to purchase a capability instead of packaged work. We are not the option you should take if you were going to write it yourself.

Authorship is the key factor here, not detection. Rather than inferring after the fact, authorship analysis allows you to record how the text was added to the record, whether it was typed, pasted, or generated on the record itself. That is considered provenance, as opposed to analysis based on statistics, and, whenever it is available, it is stronger evidence.

  • Grammarly: corrects, suggests and generates while you type.
  • Grammarly Authorship: records how text entered the document.
  • Articled: a person writes the whole piece from your brief.
  • Articled: no generative tools at any stage, by anyone.

Articled vs Grammarly AI: How the Writing Process Compares

Working with Grammarly is like having a writing partner that sits beside you and suggests ways to improve the writing. Sometimes it suggests using commas correctly, offers ways of shortening a sentence, and even suggests ways to create a paragraph. Everything it suggests is under your control on how you decide to use it. The output essentially becomes your work and is the product of your ideas that you steered machine writing to complete.

For us, drafting is not required. A verified writer will review your brief, conduct research, and write from a blank page to the final version of the draft. The editor will review the draft against the brief. Once the draft is complete, twelve detection systems, including Grammarly Authorship, will process the draft, and the reports will be automatically sent to you along with the draft.

The placement of the line within our standard is a valid question. A dictionary-level spell checker is more similar to a thesaurus than anything else. Generative assistants are tools that compose, paraphrase, or rewrite a sentence on behalf of the writer. Those types of generative aids are banned in all forms of drafting, editing, researching, and translation.

  • Asking an assistant to rewrite a clumsy sentence.
  • Generating a paragraph and editing it afterward.
  • Paraphrasing a source through any automated tool.
  • Running finished text through a humanizer to pass a scan.

Where we draw the line

Flagging a misspelling doesn’t write anything. Suggesting a replacement sentence does write something. Our standard bans the second, whichever product it arrives in, and editors look at drafting history when a passage seems amiss.

Articled vs Grammarly AI: Which Is Right for Your Use Case?

Grammarly is the better buy overall, as it will help you improve all your writing on a long-term basis. Things such as internal documents, emails you would never pay someone to write, a founder’s post that needs to be in the founder’s own voice, etc. A subscription that boosts everything you write is more valuable than one outsourced article, and we are no substitute for writing habits.

We excel when writing is not your job, or where a piece must be defended. A Paid report, a page competing in search results, an article a client will read closely. You have three days to get and keep a viewers attention, and upon delivery you receive full copyright with no attribution required.

The honest overlap here is actually a lot less than what the search results suggest. Most people who use Grammarly for corrections do so because they are choosing between writing something themselves and paying someone else to do it. This is not a software decision. This is a time vs. expertise decision.

A human writer handles every part of this. Ask us on the contact page and a person will answer the same working day.

Some use spellcheckers as their proofreading tool, and we acknowledge that it is quite reasonable. However, generative rewriting, tone rewrites, and paragraph generation will all be prohibited once the technologies reach our standard, no matter the packaging. Editors review the drafting history when a section comes across as odd.

It records how text was inputted into a document: if it was typed, pasted, or helped to be inputted by an assistant. Unlike the eleven detectors on our list, we do not analyze the final text. Rather, we analyze the text as it was written during the writing session.

Reading isn’t like buying a subscription. The most challenging part of any good article is finding supporting evidence, distinguishing between what is true and what is false, and thinking about what you are willing to let go. Software is a tool to assist in the building of thoughts. It will not develop a thought for you.

There is certainly a large portion of machine learning, and disregarding that is dishonest. We are not about grammar and spelling, we are about composition. Machine learning flags misspellings, but is capable of suggesting and even replacing entire sentences. It is that suggestion that we reject.

We do not machine-translate generated text. If you require human translation, use ‘new writing’ and include the purpose of the translation. Our writers do not transcribe the output of machine translation and drafting software. They begin working with your instructions and your reference materials.

Assistance and authorship are distinct things, and the confusing bit is that now Grammarly sells both. If a program wrote a sentence, no amount of editing alteration makes it yours. That is the reason we sell hours of focused human attention rather than software.

$10 per 100 words, and the writer keeps all of it. Our 1% sits on top, 0.5% goes to trees, and no generated text appears anywhere in the process.
