My brother actually laughed at the right part
I was pleased the speech I wrote from prompts about my brother closely resembled me, but that was expected. The ‘caravan’ joke fit right where they placed it. I put off writing this for months.
Weddings are a unique occasion for speeches. Perhaps the most difficult audience. Everyone knows the extended family backstory. Most have at least an idea about the punchlines. It’s incredibly clear when there’s no line of sight to the author of the material (the speech). Most can implicitly feel when someone is structurally speaking a line.
The story you always tell. The thing you have never said out loud. The joke that only works if someone explains who Dave is. The writer shapes it. You still sound like you.
Human first means the raw material does not come from a prompt. It comes from you. You set the tone. They ask questions. How you met, things you got wrong about them, things they do that annoys you, their catchphrases. You can’t know any of this. You have to know at least one person from this story.
Generated speeches hit the same three points: a definition of love, the groom’s good luck, and a cue to toast. Guests have experienced the same at two other weddings this year. The silence is palpable.
We work our way backward from the draft. We find out what two other people have been asked to speak about, and how long they’re each expected to speak for. Then we go through a thirty minute session to gather a collection of stories to draft the speech. We work through a round of dry reads, and any area you hesitate we re-edit and get it out of there.
We work under your name and take briefs from you or directly from your clients and adhere to your deadlines. We do not reuse any text written for one couple to another. Venues, planners, celebrants, and toastmasters typically offer this as an add-on to your packaged service, bundled together rather than sold separately.
One rate, whatever the format: $10 per 100 words. You are paying for the writer’s time and judgement, so the price scales with the words rather than with a package tier.
| Typical wedding speech | Words | Writing | Fee (1%) | You pay |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Short toast | 350 | $35 | $0.35 | $35.35 |
| Standard speech | 700 | $70 | $0.70 | $70.70 |
| Extended speech | 1,000 | $100 | $1 | $101 |
The writer receives 100% of the writing price. Our 1% fee is added on top of it, and 0.5% is donated to tree planting. Full pricing breakdown.
We match the brief to a writer who has already worked in that subject area. If you have worked with an Articled writer before and want them again, name them and we will check their availability first.
Up to 3 days. The writer has to read around the subject before writing it, so we quote honestly rather than promising an hour. If your deadline is tighter, say so in the brief and we will tell you before you pay whether we can meet it.
This is fine, and this is what the call is for. The writer guides the question and directs the interview about meeting the partner for the first time, what they are terrible at, what you would say with the mic between your fingers, and other things. It is only a matter of time until something with potential is found.
We’ll keep it for now and share how we think this will go over with grandparents in the room. Lines that rely on context that half of your guests are not going to have, mean that you will have to provide an alternate version, and you will have to decide which line you will take.

I gave them 4 rambling paragraphs about my brother and a list of private jokes. They came back with a script that I can now say without getting sweaty. Two of the jokes were personal favorites. The other one I wrote, but that one didn’t land. — Keyword-only responses will result in a zero and notification to your instructor. I was dreading this, but the questions for the vows were incredible. They were way better than anything I would have thought of. One of the questions even asked what I had been wrong about, and that became the answer in the middle of the vows.
