Articled vs Originality.ai
Originality.ai is made for the payer on the invoice. Articled is on the other side of the transaction, creating the work reviewed, submitting it to Originality.ai, and providing the result to the client before sending it.
Articled vs Originality.ai: What Is the Difference?
The vast majority of detectors were designed for classrooms. Originality.ai was made by and for the patron: agency owners, publishers, and any other client who employs writers of which they have no prior knowledge. It can determine both machine-written text and heavily plagiarized text. It also produces a report of each team member in question to ensure accountability.
This comparison is a bit unique since Originality.ai is built to solve the problem we also aim to solve. It answers the question of “did the freelancer cheat” after the fact. We answer this question ahead of time by controlling who is allowed to write, how they work, and which tools they can interact with. Neither of us performs the other’s function.
Combining AI detection and plagiarism checking is smart design. AI authored text and plagiarism are two issues with different solutions, and a client expects both to be addressed at the same time. Juggling multiple checking systems means more work, and later a reconciliation of two logs.

Articled vs Originality.ai: How the Writing Process Compares
Scanning is not an integral step of the production process so both rarely interact until the very end. After a document is completed, scanning displays a percentage. Our work is done much earlier, in the part that no scanner can see: selecting a writer, choosing an angle, reading sources, and deciding which claims can be justified.
Our form receives a brief. No account. No dashboard. No password. This brief is given to our writer, who we have vetted and who signed our no-AI contract, along with their writing sample. Our writer does their research and writes. Then our editor reads it. Afterward our software performs its verification pass across twelve platforms, Originality.ai being one of these platforms.
The portion we charge over the rate the writer sets is for that pass. A writing order of 1,000 words would cost $100 to write and an additional $1, totaling $101. The writer takes the $100 and we donate $.50 to tree planting initiatives. The credits for detection come out of the $1.
- Which sources the writer actually read.
- Whether a number was checked or assumed.
- Whether the brief was understood or skimmed.
- Who typed the words, and over how many sittings.
- Whether a paraphrasing tool touched the draft.
A score is evidence, not a verdict
Detectors estimate. We do not know. We send twelve readings instead of one to give you an idea of where observations agree, where they disagree, and what levels of confidence should be attached.
Articled vs Originality.ai: Which Is Right for Your Use Case?
Buy Originality.ai if you are commissioning from a marketplace, a brand new freelancer, or an agency that will not tell you who does the writing. Scan history and team seats exist for exactly that situation: a paper trail across many writers over many months. We offer nothing comparable, because we only vouch for our own roster.
We know a lot of people prefer certainty, so buy from us. It’s worth pointing out the quote for what it is. We’re a lot slower than the prompts you can find online for free and a bit more expensive than the monthly subscription you could get. We give you one revision done by one person, whereas you could get ten revisions done in an afternoon.
The unpleasant fact that both sides must acknowledge is that no detector is conclusive. Originality.ai openly admits that some results are going to contain false positives, and we’ve even seen clean human J tons from our own writers score worse than they deserved. That is why we send twelve reports instead of one; we will always show you the intermediate results.
Articled vs Originality.ai FAQs
A human writer handles every part of this. Ask us on the contact page and a person will answer the same working day.

Both processes are useful, as they identify different aspects. The AI scan looks at the likelihood of a machine being the author. The plagiarism scan analyzes how your text compares to already published works. It is possible for a draft to pass one of the scans while not passing the other, and either way, the draft will be emailed to you along with both results.
We do not publish a single threshold, because thresholds are subject to change with each retraining of the detector. We analyze all twelve results collectively. If a draft scores an odd result in one scan and the other eleven scans result in a pass, a flagged passage will be reviewed by an editor.
Return it to us. Detectors are retrained and scores inevitably drift, so something that was clean in March can be ‘read’ very differently in June. Within our fourteen day review window, we’ll do the work. Beyond that, we will take a look at it and be frank with our opinions.
Yes. Originality.ai and Copyleaks both do similarity scanning, and Copyscape is on the list too. Writing habits like quoting rather than assimilating sources is the part that actually prevents plagiarism. Originality.ai, Copyleaks and Copyscape all scan similarity. Writing habits, like quoting rather than assimilating sources, habits are what actually prevents plagiarism.
Go ahead. Independent verification is worth more than ours by definition. Order the piece, scan it yourself in your own account and come back to tell us if the number surprises you. We’d rather you tell us instead of you stopping your orders quietly.
One of us edits the content supply chain and the other is a part of it. Use Originality.ai if you’re going to buy writing from strangers. We, on the other hand, offer a service where you get to know the name of the writer.

$10 per 100 words, and the writer keeps all of it. Our 1% sits on top, 0.5% goes to trees, and no generated text appears anywhere in the process.
