This pass is typically a narrow one. Look for typos, punctuation, agreement and spelling of names and terms that is consistent. Also, check citations that are out of date, and if you are providing a reference list be sure to match the years of the citations provided. Everything that meets criteria larger than what is mentioned will be returned to you as a comment rather than as a change.
Small mistakes lose a lot of marks because one mark reaches page eleven of forty. Three misspelled author names and an inconsistently typed date appear as one mark to be careless, and carelessness appears as a lack of effort in the rest of your answer. It’s unfair, but it’s also predictable.
