Human-Written Battlecards. Zero AI.

Battlecards name competitors, making them the riskiest internal documents your sales team has. Everything on a battlecard needs to be accurate and sourced to an impartial third party that can be shown to a lawyer. This means each sentence has to be brief enough that someone else can finish the sentence while you’re reading it.

The failure mode is not a card that says too little. It is a rep giving a confident and incorrect claim about one of your competition’s pricing. It loses the argument for everyone in the room and takes your credibility with them.

Why No-AI Battlecards Need Real Commercial Judgement

What you are allowed to say about a named competitor is often as much of a legal issue as a commercial one. Having a pricing page and showing that an entry tier caps API calls at 10,000 per month is very different from saying they are expensive. One of these has been said many times in a room. The other will incite a formal complaint.

Where AI falls down on battlecards

This is the section where generated text does the most damage. A model confidently rates a competitor’s pricing and feature list from a year out of date during a trial. If a sales rep parrots this during a sales call, they lose the deal because that is the reason the buyer does not trust anything the sales rep is saying.

Our Sales Writing Process for No-AI Battlecards

We start by reviewing the competitor’s public information: pricing and corresponding documentation, release notes, status pages, and terms of service. In addition, we talk to your sales representatives about what actually comes up in sales calls, which usually boils down to two objections versus the twelve that a marketing team may anticipate. Questions of sourcing or evidence are removed.

Reviewing No-AI Battlecards Before They Go Live

Cards that include sources go to legal or marketing reviewers who provide feedback in an hour instead of a week. We add dates to every line and mark overpricing and outdated roadmap items. Since we know that these will be the first to go stale, these are the lines you will need to check once a quarter rather than rewriting the entire card.

What battlecards cost

One rate, whatever the format: $10 per 100 words. You are paying for the writer’s time and judgement, so the price scales with the words rather than with a package tier.

Typical battlecardWordsWritingFee (1%)You pay

Two pages800$80$0.80$80.80

The writer receives 100% of the writing price. Our 1% fee is added on top of it, and 0.5% is donated to tree planting. Full pricing breakdown.

Both. Our researchers scan everything the competition publishes, and then your SDRs capture what only appears in calls. We will not sign up for the competitor’s product using a fake name, and we will not use anything that we would not want disclosed.

Pricing and packaging claims go stale in a quarter. Packaging positioning holds for a year. Each line we date with the reference time to mark the stale packages, so a refresh takes twenty minutes rather than a new commission.

One page, no filler, reps use it

Everything we’ve made in house, every battle card, turned into three pages no one opened. This is one, with the two objections that actually show up and a decent answer for each. Adoption is the only metric we care about and it’s almost all there.

Matched the tender’s scoring criteria

The proposal was written with the scoring matrix in the tender document in mind, not a general pitch. Each section corresponds with a criterion. Whoever did this has actually studied a public sector tender before, which is rare.

Strong words, slow start

Nothing happened for the first day and a half, which made me anxious, since I assumed they would start immediately. Then it came, and slide seven finally explains our wedge in a sentence I have been failing to write for a year. I think some communication during the wait would have helped.
